Have you ever wanted to learn how to fish?  Now’s your chance, let the Mass Wildlife Angler Education Program be your guide. We'll have equipment on hand for use, as well as terminal tackle, and live bait.

Dive into the exciting world of saltwater fishing with your family! This hands-on course is designed for families who want to learn the fundamentals of saltwater fishing while enjoying quality time together. Whether you're a novice angler or looking to refine your skills, this course offers a comprehensive introduction to the techniques, equipment, and best practices for successful saltwater fishing.
What You’ll Learn:
  • Fishing Gear Basics: Understanding rods, reels, lines, and tackle specific to saltwater fishing.
  • Fish Identification: Learn to identify common saltwater fish species and understand their habitats.
  • Casting Techniques: Practice and master various casting techniques suitable for different fishing conditions.
  • Bait and Lure Selection: Discover how to choose and prepare the best bait and lures for targeting specific fish.
  • Fishing Safety: Essential safety tips for fishing from shorelines, piers, and boats.

Course Duration: The course runs over a weekend, with sessions including both classroom instruction and on-the-water practice.
Location: Local coastal areas known for family-friendly fishing environments.

Fishing Notes
  • For youth ages 7 - 16 and parents, grandparents, etc.
  • There will be Rods on hand for use, as well as terminal tackle, and live bait.
  • You’ll learn the basics, from casting out, to baiting up, and the best part - you’ll actually be able to fish.
  • So come try your hand at this great pastime, guaranteed to catch some fun!
  • Parents must participate with their child.
