Join the Mashpee Recreation Department for a 4-week summer nature program for children ages 5–9 and their caregivers, offered in partnership with Conchitas Outdoor Learning and Play and the Mashpee Conservation Department. Held at Santuit Pond Preserve, this program combines science learning with nature exploration in a beautiful outdoor setting.
Each week explores a new local theme, encouraging curiosity, discovery, and connection to Mashpee’s unique ecosystems:
- Week 1: Migratory Herring return to the Mashpee waters!
- Week 2: A new generation of Snapping Turtles are here!
- Week 3: Birds, Birds Everywhere!
- Week 4: Atlantic White Cedar Swamps all around you!
This is a family program; children must attend with a parent or guardian.
Equipment recommendations: Please dress for outside conditions! We will be getting your feet wet, so we recommend rain boots. If you need a pair, please email info@conchitas.org with your sizes, and we can try to provide them for you. Participation will require moving down a wide, flat, sandy trail. Wheels tend to do well, but please email us with any questions!
Conchitas Outdoor Learning and Play is a local non-profit organization offering nature-based play and outdoor learning for children ages 0-6 and their families. We create and lead low-cost programming to support child-led nature-based opportunities for learning and play for all children and families, and work for equitable nature access here in our community. Our programs are rooted in the belief that all children can benefit from nature, and that all families deserve equitable opportunities to access and explore nature together with their young ones.
