Pickleball "2 & a Coach" - "2 & a Coach" with Karl
All Mashpee Recreation pickleball lessons are taught by Straight-Up Pickleball, founded by Laura and Karl Uggerholt. Straight-Up's experienced and caring Coaching Team offer comprehensive pickleball lessons, allowing players to advance through a consistent curriculum at their own pace. The instructors are excited about the 2025 season and look forward to sharing what they know about a sport they love with great people ! Are you interested in more personalized coaching with a fellow player ? If so, this one hour coaching session is perfect for you ! The lesson will be led by a fun and knowledgeable Straight-Up Coach and will allow full, focused and personalized instruction for 2 players signing up for a lesson taught together (one slot). The participants will have the opportunity to focus on strategies and mechanics leaving the hour with an improvement plan and a sense of accomplishment. Note : The "Two and a Coach" lessons are for players who already know how to play pickleball. It is recommended those interested in learning pickleball for the first time sign up for a Beginner Clinic or two "Two and a Coach" lessons.

The course will include learning the rules of the game, player positioning and the various shots (ground strokes, volleys, serves, dinks, etc.) Instruction will include drills to learn shots and game playing to put the skills learned into practice. You will be off and playing upon course completion !

Qualified participants know the rules, how to serve and return and how to keep score. Note : Novice Clinics are for players who already know how to play pickleball. It's the Way to Go ! - There are a few tactical changes in pickleball recently and top spin is definitely one of them. Top spin helps with hitting harder, keeping the ball in play and making shots more difficult for opponents to attack. Update your game to include top spin and learn the best times to use it ! Option : follow-up with "Play with the Coaches" to continue working on implementation. Sept. 18th 3:45-5:15 Skills Clinic : Lobs and Overheads, Offense and Defense - Looking to add an element of surprise to your game ? This clinic is for you ! Students will learn strategic times to use lobs to setup a rally win, how to effectively put-away a setup with a strong overhead shot, and when/how to use a lob defensively to give your team time to regroup. Option : follow-up with "Play with the Coaches" to continue working on implementation. Note : Students will be grouped on level of experience. This clinic is for people who already know the rules and basics of pickleball. Students looking to learn the game or who are newer to the game should check out the Beginning and Novice Clinics.
